200607229 - The second race that Shellshock enters is the 3rd in the Lady Skipper series. The crew (Lynn, Steffi, Joey, Jeremy, Anthony) is max'd out for a light-winded day. Air temperatures reach record highs in the mid to high 90's with minimal cloud cover. The skipper, Lynn, with little sleep and extremely dehydrated, takes the helm only after jumping in the water for a refreshing wake-up dip.

With a postponement by the Race Committee (Doctor Chicago III), the race started about 20 minutes later. Crossing the start line only led to a parking lot of boats waiting for the winds to fill in. The winds filled in from the rear and the spinnaker fleet soon put up their big colorful sails. Shellshock was second to put up their chute, after Agitator, followed by Heart Throb. Around the first mark, the wind had clocked and picked-up, and Shellshock was behind Agitator and Heart Throb. The upwind legs were favorable for Shellshock with her 150% genoa, but downwind legs were no match for Agitator and Heart Throb. You can see them pull away as soon they put up their chute. Both Heart Throb and Agitator had already crossed the finish line leaving Shellshock to finish the last leg of the race, when the wind dropped a couple of knots.

Overall, Shellshock and her crew performed very well. Joey was integral to how the boat faired by acting as tactician and helping out on all positions of the boat, except the helm. Steffi was all over the fore deck and the sewer. Anthony helped on the fore deck, mainsheet trim and navigation. Jeremy was all about the head sail trim, while Lynn was all over the helm.
Shellshock uses this race to dawn her new mainsail cover, repaired 100% working jib and new tee shirts.
