20060701 - Feeling good about doing their first race (read: over confident), Shellshock competes in her first MORF event The crew was made up of Steffi, Vlad, Rick, Jeremy and Anthony. The trapezoidal multi-leg course was 10.69nm, which had the waves getting up to 3 feet. The best part was the 15-25 knot winds, with 30 knot gusts.

After having a good start (first out of three), Shellshock lost ground to a Frers 33 before rounding the first mark. As they rounded the mark, the boat in front tried to put up their chute, but it gave them a lot of trouble in the 25 knot winds. Shellshock did not put up their spinnaker, but in the process of furling/unfurling and lots of luffing of the working jib, there appeared a three foot horizontal slice towards the top of the front sail - always glad to make the sailmakers richer.

The race ended up with a DNF in the results column for Shellshock. After retiring from the race, they put up the big 150% genoa and flew into the harbor, getting up to 10 knots (11.51 mph). Anthony was also able to experience sailing in these strange conditions and seems to have enjoyed himself.
